National Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence of Panama

Organizer
CINARTI is a program of Atlas Technology Ventures, a company based in Panama City, which is the organization accountable for the olympiad. The main venue is CITEP (Centro de Innovación en Tecnología y Electrónica de Panamá) in Paseo del Norte, which provides its laboratory and computing center.
IOAI accreditation: Atlas’s application to become Panama’s national organizer is under review. We will publish the IOAI’s decision here.

Who can take part
- Any student receiving their education in Panama, regardless of nationality or province.
- 20 years old or younger on 1 July 2027.
- Enrolled full-time in primary or secondary education on or after 1 December 2026.
- Home-schooled students may take part if they have not received a high-school diploma (or equivalent) and were working toward one on 1 December 2026.
- Aimed mainly at students in grades 8 to 12, with an open category for younger students.
How to register
Registration is free and online, individually or through your school’s coordinator. The form will be published on this page on 2 November 2026.
Students without a computer or internet access can take the online tests at a host site with computers, such as CITEP’s computing center. Regional sites will be announced here before 15 January 2027.

How candidates are evaluated
A scientific committee of artificial intelligence and computer science specialists prepares the tests and the grading criteria, which are published before each round. Grading is anonymized, and no committee member grades or sets problems for students they teach or coach.

- Round 2 · OrientThe top 40 scores, plus ties, advance to Round 3.
- Round 3 · AdvanceThe four highest scores form the national team; the next two are reserves.

Online test
- Multiple choice, in Spanish, 60 to 90 minutes.
- No prior knowledge of AI required.
- From school, home or a host site with computers.
- Advance to Round 2: the top 25%.
- Round 2 · Orient
Proctored online test
- Higher difficulty: AI concepts, mathematics and programming logic.
- Advance to Round 3: the top 40 scores, plus ties.
- Round 3 · Advance
Practical test
- 3 to 4 hours: data analysis and model building in Python notebooks.
- In person at CITEP and regional sites, with a supervised remote option.
- Travel support for finalists living outside the capital.
How the team is chosen
The four students with the highest Round 3 scores form the national team, and the next two are reserves. Ties for fourth or sixth place are broken by the Round 2 score.
Free training
Round 3 qualifiers receive online sessions and recorded materials on Python, data analysis and machine learning basics, so that students without previous access to these topics can compete on equal terms.
Results
We publish the results of every round on this page by participant code, to protect students’ privacy. Every participant receives their score and ranking.

Costs and support
Participation is free of charge at every stage. There are no fees for registration, tests or training.
Host sites with computers for students without a device or internet access.
Travel support for Round 3 finalists from outside the capital.
The team’s trip to the IOAI (participation fee, flights, visas and insurance for the team and its leader) is funded by sponsors, at no cost to families.
The olympiad is not run for profit, and selection is open to students from across the country, regardless of their financial situation.

Previous cycles
2027 is CINARTI’s first cycle. At the end of each cycle we will publish how the selection was carried out, who represented Panama and their results, and archive the information rather than delete it.
